 THE SMUGGLERS.   Written by Brian Hayles.   4 episodes.

 COMPANIONS:- Ben and Polly.

   It is 17th century England. The TARDIS lands on the Cornish coast and the
 Doctor becomes involved in the hunt for lost treasure. After helping a
 churchwarden by putting right his dislocated hand, the Doctor is given a
 clue to the whereabouts of the treasure. This treasure is sought by the
 pirates whose Captain hid the treasure and a group of smugglers, led by
 the local squire. The pirates kidnap the TARDIS crew, who are saved by the
 timely intervention of the local militia.
