[This is a bit dated - if this message is still here, it means I didn't call

and verify that it was or was not...]

They have a line of XELTEK programmers. I include it here because they have

a cheap PLD programmer ($129 - typo??) but here's the whole blurb:

"E(E)PROM programmer 1 gang $129, 4 gang $199, 8 gang $269, 16 gang $479"

"Universal Programmer ($549) [does] E(E)PROMs, PROMs, PALs, GALs, EPLDs,

FPLDs, tests TTL, CMOS, RAM, etc."

"Universal Programmer ($699) [does] E(E)PROMs, Flash, PROMs, PALs, GALs,

EPLDs, FPLDs (to 68 pins PLCC), tests TTL, CMOS, RAM, etc. (to 40 pins)"

"Micro Controller Programmer ($359) [does] E(E)PROMs, Controllers"

"PLD Programmer ($129 - THIS ONE!) [does] PALs, GALs, EPLDs, FPLDs"

I've bought two of their Model 1409 and found them to have the features

you're looking for (9600 bps, serial, does Intel 8741/8748 and similar

chips, adapter for some Motorola microcontrollers).   The 1409 is probably

obsolete; neither of mine will do 12.5 volt CMOS 2716s - but should handle

the more recent parts just fine.

The programmer I bought is a BP-1, $300 from BP Microsystems. It has a serial

interface which operates at up to 38400b. It programs 2716..27512, and has

adapters available for the 8048 and 8051 family ($130 each). It comes with

software for PCs, but will also work with any serial communications program. It

supports zmodem and ASCII transfers of Intel or Motorola hex files.  I use it

under UNIX with good results.

I have the Needhams SA-10 standalone programmer.  It's expensive, but it's

very nice.  Works as advertised and their tech support people were nice.

You may want to note in your ad that it can also be upgraded in the field

when software revisions are available.
