TRUE GRIT and MILESTONE WINNERS ANNOUNCED
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Mike Julson of Santee, Calif., and Tom Schilling of
El Cajon, Calif., were the only survivors of 213 drivers eligible to
share in SCORE International's $12,000 Toyota True Grit purse for the
1993 season.
Julson and Schilling were each presented checks for $6,000 at
the annual SCORE awards banquet.
Toyota True Grit awards are paid to drivers in "little guy"
classes, or classes which have no factory entries, based on their
combined average speeds for the siz point-scoring races. Winners in
each class were to have been paid $2,000 each, but there were no
winners at all in foru of the classes.
Meanwhile, the prestigious Toyota Milestone awards competition
ended with 14 drivers winning out of an eligibility list of 367 after
six races, including the just-conccluded Tecate SCORE Baja 1000
presented by Ford, which had a finishing ratio of 24 per cent.
Milestone awards, given to drivers who complete every racing
mile of all six event, are open to all SCORE 4-wheel competitors
regardless of class.
Fastest of the Milestone winners is Ivan Stewart of Alpine,
Calif., with a 51.080 mph cumulative average speed after 2,442.12 miles
of competiton.
