Passing words; I Love you

Did I hear you say you love me?
Did it come from within your heart?
Or were words just passing freely
from your lips with little thought?

Did you feel your gut clench tightly
when the thought occured to speak?
Or did the thought come from a habit
with a meaning very weak?

Do you search your soul to find a way
to strengthen those three words?
Give new meaning to the love you feel,
in a way you've never heard?

Or do you simply say in passing,
no emotion, heart or soul
Words upon the wind, like autumn leaves
fly freely ever more.....
