FOLLOWING THE RECENT WARNING ON UK SUPER NINTENDO - WE HAVE NOW PURCHASED ONE
FOR TESTING PURPOSES AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING RESULTS:
THE MACHINE (PAL) -- *WILL NOT* PLAY JAPANESE OR AMERICAN CARTRIDGES.
IT WILL ONLY PLAY UK GAMES

As far as we can work out (Japanese/American Famicoms will not play UK games)
- the new UK Super Nintendo has swapped a couple of pins round, and therefore
does not tell the Famicom a cartridge is present when tried on its counterpart
machine.
Ie: With a simple converter, and/or switch on future Super Magicom's - you
WILL be able to play games from all countries on ANY model.
COPIER COMPATIBILITY
====================
To play Japanese & American games from DISK on the UK Super Nintendo, you must
have a UK cartridge in the copier. You can then play ANY game from disk, we
tested F-Zero, Contra Spirits/Super Contra, PGA Golf and Legend of the
Mystikal Ninja.
Once you have the file on disk, you can load the game on ANY machine - because
the protection is only checking the cartridge plugged in, not the game data.
Therefore you CAN use our copiers perfectly on the UK Super Nintendo's.. but
be warned, we have tested our RGB Scart lead and found that it DOES NOT output
RGB, just COMPOSITE.. so forget your nice rock solid screen.. its blurred
screen, and of course the awful 'letterbox' screen format.... And more
importantly... the games run SO SLOW!!!!

WARNING ABOUT UK SUPER NINTENDO (SUPER NES)

If you are considering buying a UK spec Super Nintendo, THINK AGAIN! Consider
the following notes BEFORE you buy!!!!
The UK Super Nintendo (£149 with Super Mario World)
1) It will play ONLY UK cartridges, currently:

Mario World (as supplied with unit)
F-Zero
Super Tennis
+ Final Fight, UN Squadron, R-Type etc....
IT WILL *NOT* PLAY JAPANESE OR AMERICAN GAMES

There will soon be a convertor available which WILL allow you to play these
games, but we are not able to confirm the price at present.
^^ THIS IS STILL TRUE, BUT IT WILL ALSO BE INCORPORATED IN THE NEW COPIERS,
SO BEAR THIS IN MIND BEFORE PAYING £££'S ON A CHEAP BIT OF PLASTIC!
2) Game backup-devices WILL NOT WORK. (YES THEY WILL!)
As the machine is running in PAL - Many games, including most of the best
ones, will not correctly work at 50 frames per second (50Hz).
3) The games run SLOWER --- Mario and F-Zero suffer the same slow feel as with
the PAL Megadrives (ie Sonic the Hedgehog)... And games do not ooze with
the same playability as when running 10 frames per second faster!
^^ THIS IS TRUE!! SO YOU STILL WANT A JAPANESE ONE!
If of course you only want to buy original *UK* cartridges then don't worry
about the notes above.. but remember Nintendo only release a maximum of 3
games per month.. so even by Christmas there will only be 20 games at best to
choose from.. most of the games to be released by Christmas (such as The
Addams family) are already available as the USA version... and many many
more.
To get a console that works with everything... best buy JAPANESE... These
come with Scart and are in 60Hz (NSTC). You will of course need a suitable
Scart TV/Monitor.. or get an adaptor for Philips 8833 Mk 2 or Commodore 1084.
Remember you get a full warranty with your Famicom and can buy Japanese,
American OR UK cartridges.
Nb: The American Super NES will NOW only play American cartridges, because of
the recent addition of a similar lock out chip now present in the UK models.
These however will enable you to buy all of the huge range of American games
available.
The only one that will play the lot, and looks the same as the UK Super
Nintendo, is the Japanese Super Famicom.
Final summary:
To get the best range of games buy a Super Famicom (JAP) SCART (60Hz) You will
need a suitable TV or Monitor with a Scart input, that handles RGB, or a
monitor such as Philips 8833 Mk 2 (9pin D-Connector) or CBM 1084 (DIN).
