How To Change Your Drive Icons

The next few easy steps will teach you how to change the icon of your hard drive in My Computer in Windows 95.

Do you really hate the icon of your hard drive ? I did. I got kind of board with the generic icon of the drive so I changed it.

Step 1. First you must pick the icon of your choice. Then right-click it and copy it to the clipboard. Then open the window of the hard drive that you would like to change. Create a directory called “Autorun”. Then paste the icon in this directory (folder). Now you have the icon of your choice.

Step 2. Next you must create a new text document and type the following in the text document.

[autorun]
ICON=C:\AUTORUN\ICON.ICO

“C:\” being the drive you want.
“ICON.ICO” being the icon file name of the icon you chose.

Step 3. When you save the file make sure you put it in the root directory and save it as “AUTORUN.INF”.

Now click the VIEW menu in your My Computer window and click REFRESH.
Doing this will now activate the icon.
