HELPFUL HINTS

OPTIONS

Level

Choose a difficulty level from Easy, Normal and Hard.

Note:  Easy allows you to play the first five stages 

only.

Lives

Choose the number of lives per game.

Control

Select this feature and you can rearrange the functions 

for the buttons on your Control Pad.  

ITEMS

Items are found on the ground or concealed in containers 

such as crates, drums, road blocks, statues, stacks of 

life preservers, etc.  Pick up an item by standing over 

it and pressing Button B.

Apples Restores 1/3 of your Life Gauge.

1 Up Gives you an extra life.

Chicken Fills your Life Gauge.

Cash bag Worth 1,000 points.

Gold bars Gives you a 5,000 point bonus!

BASIC MOVES

Fury

Press Button B repeatedly for a series of punches and 

then a mighty knockdown blow.

Ligts Out

Press Button Y, or hold Button B, then release for a 

single powerful punch or kick.

Duck and Roll

To change the plane of your character, quickly press the 

D-Button TWICE UP or TWICE DOWN.

Dash

Press the D-Button TWICE LEFT or TWICE RIGHT and hold to 

run.

Blitz Attack

Press the D-Button twice in the same direction, then 

press Button B for a "Clear the Walkway" move.  Gain 

40,000 points without losing a life and you'll gain a 

yellow star underneath your character's name.  This will 

make the Blitz Attack even more powerful.  Every time 

your character loses, he/she loses a star.  Each 

character is granted up to 3 stars.

Note:  If you have a 6-button controller, you do not need 

to collect stars.  You can perform 3 star Blitz Attacks 

by holding Button X and performing a fireball motion on 

the D-pad (down, down-forward, then forward).   

Back Attack

Press Button Z, or Buttons B and C simultaneously, to 

deliver to the enemy a "Backdoor Who-Dat Smack."  Make 

sure your'e not holding a weapon while trying this, or 

the weapon will be thrown forward.

Jump Kick

Press Button C to jump. While in mid-air, press Button B 

to kick.  This will prove that what goes up must come 

down on your face!

SPECIAL ATTACKS

These attacks are devastating and spectacular to watch at 

best.  Your fighter uses his/her Strength Gauge every 

time they perform this attack.  If a Special Attack is 

performed before your Strength Gauge has a chance to 

fill, your fighter's Life Gauge will drain.  There are 

two types of Special Attacks per player.

Stationary Attack

Performed by pressing Button A to clear the enemy off you 

when your situation gets too intense.

Directed Attack

While pressing the D-Button in the direction of your 

opponent, press Button A to drain his/her energy meter 

with vicious attack.

WALKTHROUGH

Stage 1-1 Warehouse

Nothing unique here, just go to the right and defeat the 

enemy.  

Stage 1-2 Docks

Same as above.

Stage 1-3 and Shiva's the Boss

Fight your way to end of the Alley way to fight Shiva.  

To defeat Shiva, roll from the foreground to the 

background and set up to use your special attack.

Stage 2-1 Night Life

Go the far right and defeat the enemy.  Jump-kick the 

motorcycle riders to knock them off their bikes. 

At the far right, you will face Roo and his master, The 

Mad Diabolical Clown, Bruce.  Defeat only Bruce and you 

will set Roo free.  Roo will return the favor by helping 

you stop Mr. X.  After saving Roo, you can select to play 

him if you continue.

Stage 2-2 Club X

Continue your fight and boogie woogie down to the dance 

floor.

Stage 2-3 Mona Lisa with a frown

Leonardo has never seen this split personality of Mona 

Lisa.  Stay away from these two acrobatic Techno dance 

fever Mamas when they're in the air.  Only attack Mona 

and Lisa individually and always attack when they land.

Stage 3-1 Contruction Site

Don't waste time with the punks on this level.  Try to 

throw as many enemy characters as possible into the pits.

Stage 3-2 Contruction Elevator

Nothing new here, but let's see how far these guys can 

fall. You're the King of the Hill here; throw as many 

guys/gals as possible over the edge.

Stage 3-3 Axel the Terminaeta

He may look like you, he may smell like you, and may even 

fight like you, but don't be fooled, this robot of Axel 

will let loose some serious combos, unless you team 

together and crush him.  "Hey Blaze, stop looking at how 

cute he is, and kick his butt.  You too, Zan.!"

Stage 4-1 Subway

Welcome to the Underground Secret Society of Japan. The 

enemy down here are sworn assassins.  They will attack at 

any cost.

Stage 4-2 Subway to Little Tokyo

Same as Above.

Stage 4-3 Tokyo Samurais of the Secret Society

Now this is a Boss.  These three Samurais are the 

toughest in the game.  Try to attack with jump kicks and 

do lots of rolling to grab them by suprise.  Each Samurai 

changes his pattern according to how you attack, so watch 

out.  

Stage 5-1 Ninja Gaiden

You've just stepped into the Ninja Training grounds.  

Fight your way to the right until you reach the 

staircase.

Stage 5-2 The Hallway

Demolish these punks to get closer to Mr. X.

Stage 5-3 Mr. X's private elevator

Defeat everyone who drops into the elevator.

Note: If you're playing Easy this is the last Stage.      

Stage 6-1 Trap Room

On this stage there's a timer.  When the timers reaches 

00, a gas will release and slowly poison your character 

and the Chief of Police.  Your mission is to use the 

elevator to go down two floors and destroy the Switches 

controlling the Electrical Bars.  (Punch the down arrow 

on the elevator to go down.)  

Here’s the best way to destroy Switch 1 and Swwitch 2: 

1. Go down twice in the elevator from the top floor 

(floor with the Robots).

2. Defeat Fabio and his gang first, then go into room 

number 02.

3. Defeat the enemy inside and then destroy Switch 2.  

(This turns off the electrical bars in front of the 

Chief.)

1. Now proceed to the left and go up in the elevator to 

the next floor.

2. Defeat the two guys in suit and tie first, then go 

into the second room on this floor.

3. Defeat the enemy inside and then destroy Switch 1. ( 

This turns off the electrical bars on the middle floor.)

Now, on the middle floor, run to the far right.  You’ll 

see the Chief of Police tied to a chair.  Do not stop in 

front of him, instead go as far right as possible and he 

will speak to you.  

Note:  If you save him in time his head will be up, but 

if you take too long his head will be chin to chest.

Stage 6-2 Jet

Jet and his minions are pretty hard to defeat.  Try to 

concentrate on Jet, the purple guy, with lots of jump 

kicks.

If the Mayer is R.I.P.

Stage 7-1 Gates of City Hall

Fight your way into City Hall.

Stage 7-2 Inside City Hall

Knock out Mr.X’s goons to stop the Impostor.

Stage 7-3 The Impostor's speech-Shiva

Destroy Shiva just like before.

If the Mayor is Saved

Stage 7-1  Park Traps

Watch out for the traps on the grassy knoll.

Stage 7-2 Mr. X's Headquarters

Watch out for the lasers on the wall.  The lasers can 

shoot the enemy also.

Stage 7-3 Psychopathic Mynce Meat Claw

To defeat the Claw, stay in the foreground and wait for 

the Claw to animate (open and close).  Then move from 

underneath it and unleash your special attack.  Axel or 

Zan is the best for this job.

The Final Battle-Robot Y

This Robotech wanna-be is not a easy challenge.  To 

defeat him, use your Stationary Attack when Robot Y is in 

close.  Jump-kick him if he is not close enough for a 

Stationary Attack.  Robot Y is not your only challenge.  

You must defeat him before the bomb explodes and destroys 

the City.  

Note:  If you destroy Robot Y before the timer goes off, 

you get the real ending.  If not, watch the storyline of 

how you let Mr. X destroy the City.  !All those innocent 

people, gone!

CODES

STAGE SELECT

At the Menu Select Screen, press and hold B.  Press Up 

and move to the word "Option".  With button B and Up 

held, press Start.

9 LIVES

On the Option screen, highlight the word "Lives", then on 

the 2nd control pad hold A, B, C, and up.  Release the 

buttons and use the 1st control pad to cycle through the 

number of lives.  You are now able to acquire 9 lives 

instead of only 5.

PLAY AS ROO FROM THE BEGINNING

On the Press Start screen, hold Up and press Start.  Roo 

will appear in the Character Select screen.

PLAY AS THE BOSS SHIVA

After you defeat Shiva, immediately hold button B and 

continously press Start.  Once you die and select to 

continue, Shiva will appear as a character selection.

PLAY AS THE SAME CHARATER

Put the select arrow on 2 players.  Press Down and C 

simultaneously.  More accurately done on the 2nd control 

pad.
