Smartmodem 9600 -

CCITT V.32 Modem for Data Communications Networks

Smartmodem 9600 is designed to bring Hayes quality to mainframe and local area

network (LAN) enviroments requiring high-speed, full-duplex communications for

transferring large volumes of data from host to host, between data processing

centers and remote controllers, and from LAN to hosts.

CCITT V.32 compatibility provides the versatility fo U.S. and international

communications capability as well as compatibility with lower speeds (2400, 1200

and 300 bps). Synchronous and asychronous transmission combined with leased-line

(2 or 4 wire) or dial-up communications features enable the modem to operate in

a variety of enviroments.

AUTOMATIC LEASED LINE RESTORATION - Smartmodem 9600 automatcially initiates the

steps for restoring leased line communications failure should that connection

fail.

AUTOMATIC DIAL BACK-UP - If the leased line connection cannot be restored,

Smartmodem 9600 can be configured to automatically establish a dial back-up link

using a pre-stored phone number.

LEASED LINE RESTORATION FOLLOWING DIAL BACK-UP - After a dial back-up session is

complete, Smartmodem 9600 re-establishes leased line connection if line is

available. Additionally, leased line connection can be manually restored at any

time.

LONG DISTANCE AND SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITY - Echo cancellation

capability provides reliable, full-duplex communications over long distance

links, including two-hop satellite capability.

NEW ENCLOSURE - Modem enclosure features liquid crystal display (LCD) and small

footprint to minimize space needed for modem. Cable Management System (Patent

Pending) controls cable placement and makes it possible to place the back or

side of the modem flush against a wall or cabinet.

FRONT PANEL CONFIGURATION AND CONTROL - Front panel keys provide menu access for

configuring, operating, monitoring, and testing Smartmodem 9600.
