Doctor Who: The Space Pirates

 


 THE SPACE PIRATES.   Written by Robert Holmes.   6 episodes.

                      8th March - 12th April 1969.

                      

 COMPANIONS:- Jamie and Zoe.

 

   The TARDIS materialises on a space beacon. A band of space pirates are

 breaking up the beacon in an attempt to steal it and the travellers are

 seperated from the TARDIS, which is on part of the beacon held by the

 pirates.

   The International Space Corps are convinced that the thief is a space

 pioneer by the name of Milo Clancy. Clancy and the Doctor team up with

 one another and the TARDIS crew hide him on the planet Ta. Ta is the base

 of Caven, a notorious criminal in league with the pirates. Eventually,

 Caven is arrested for the crime.

   As you can gather from the plotline above, this was rather a ploddy story

 with most of the interest provided by the model shots. These models were

 made by the BBC Space Unit which handled all of the work for the coverage

 of man's landing on the moon.
