Doctor Who: The Gunfigthers

THE GUNFIGHTERS.   Written by Donald Cotton.   4 episodes.

                    30th April - 21st May 1966.

A Holiday for the Doctor, Don't Shoot the Pianist, Johnny Ringo,

 The O.K. Corral.

 COMPANIONS:- Steven and Dodo.

After breaking a tooth on a boiled sweet, the Doctor arrives in the Wild

West. Seeking out a dentist, he meets the infamous Doc Hoiliday and becomes

embroiled in the events leading up to the famous gunfight.

This is widely regarded as the worst ever Dr Who adventure. The sets

were poor, the script awful, the acting terrible and the fake American

accents more suited to amateur night at the local theatre than the Wild

West. The viewing figures dipped below the horizontal for the first time

and the poor response to the story more or less decided the fate of the

 historical adventures.

THE GUNFIGHTERS was the last story to feature episodes with their own

titles. Having seen the story recently, I can honestly say that this is

the only remotely interesting thing about it!
