                                 LATE ASTERS

                                 Mod Surgeon

He stood out boldly:

Heavy head, long, black hair

That spilled in glossy blocks

Down to neck and cheeks.

A busy mustache

Quivered with prestige.

Massive chest and upper limbs

Swelled blue and double breasted

Above his mustard slacks

And buckled, black and brilliant

Patent leather shoes.

He dominated all

The neatly brushed

Sleek headed surgeons

Seated round him in the room.

And yet among the modest seals

This mighty walrus

Only stroked his mustache

And took notes.
