 COMPANIONS:- Ian, Barbara and Susan.

  The TARDIS at last returns to London but it is over 100 years later than
 when Ian and Barbara left. The city is strangely quiet and in a dilapidated
 state with signs warning people not to dump bodies in the river. The TARDIS
 is buried under a fall of rubble and the travellers find themselves in the
 hands of zombie-like Robomen. As Ian makes a run for it, a Dalek emerges
 from the Thames.
  The Daleks plan to replace the Earth's core with a drive system, allowing
 them to pilot the planet to any point in space and killing the world's
 population at the same time.
  The Doctor and company join up with an underground resistance movement
 and ultimately use the Daleks own bomb to defeat them. As the Doctor
 prepares the TARDIS for take off, he notices that Susan is torn between
 staying with David Campbell, a resistance leader and going with him and the
 others. He makes the decision for her, closing the TARDIS door before
 saying his goodbyes via the TARDIS scanner.
