Corruption Issue #3

ïThe Rebirth

                                THE REBIRTH

Welcome To Corruption Issue #3.  In the attempt to make Corruption
Issue #3 packed with features, art, and articles we have worked very hard
to bring you only the best.  I, Eternal Lie, have taken back over the coding
of the magazine and am glad with the results.
After Issue #1, We got such an impact from the loadup VGA by Eight Ball
of Acid Productions(tm).  I decided to try and get the legend of VGA to
draw yet another loadup VGA.  After disscussing the issue, he agreed to do so
and just look at the results.
After being practically out of the scene for a month, I decided to
storm back in and assist Kinayda and Cyber X run the mag once again.  I
called many artists and got things running smoothly again.  Thanks again to
all the work they did this issue.
With Issue #3, we are going to try very hard to be a bi-monthly/monthly
magazine.  With a new WHQ's, that picks up all the time, things began
pouring into the Corruption section.  Thanks to all who contributed this
month by calling us instead of us calling you.
A big shout out to Terminator2 of Acid Productions (tm).  Thanks for the
menu and the countless hours disscussing the mag on the phone.  Speaking of
T2, thanks to all the artists that applied for Corruption and a extra big
thanks to all that submitted.
All this wouldn't of been possible without the help of Psyco Child.
Thanks a lot for the help in rounding up articles from many different groups.
Thank you once again for Downloading Corruption DiskMag.  If you would
like to apply for a member or distrobution site, fill out the BUILT IN
application generator, by selecting applications at the main menu.

MAN COMPACTED IN GARBAGE TRUCK; IN STABLE CONDITION.

A 33-year old transient man was listed in stable condition at St.
Anthony's Hospital in Amarillow Tuesday after being compacted repeatedly in
a city garbage truck that was making its morning rounds.
About 8 a.m. Tuesday, Mark Oliver Dusek was sleeping in a trash bin
behind Pier 1 Imports at 1900 S. Western St. when a city garbage truck came
along and picked up the container, an Amarillo Police Department news
release said.
Dusek remained in the trash truck for about two hours, where he was
compacted about 25 times.
The man was discovered among the trash when the truck emptied its load
at the city transfer station, 800 E. 26th Ave., the news release said.
"When the truck came into the transfer station to unload, the back door
opened, a small amount of trash fell out and then, he fell out, "said Mike
Kennedy, Amarillo's director of public works.
Kennedy said the man had suffered a broken leg, but that he was
conscious.  Although Dusek had apparently been yelling for help, the man's
voice was drowned out by the noise of the truck.
Dusek was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's for treatment.  A
spokesman for the Amarillo Police Department said investigators had not
determined where Dusek is from.
Amarillo police Sgt. Gerald Bailey said similar accidents happen once
or twice each winter when someone crawls into a trash bin to keep warm.

                    Art Couriering Transformation

A Few months ago, Lupus, the veterins of Art couriers, met some
competition.  Turbine Couriers came into play.  Turbine Couriered all of
what Lupus did, in addition, Emags, Demos, and HP Newsletters.  At
first, Lupus and Turbine were equal, but as Turbine's member list grew,
they quickly surpassed them.  Turbine had many courier converts from
Lupus.  Turbine also had many iCE/ACiD/GOTHiC couriers in their group.
This past month, the senior staff of Turbine decided to weed through
their member listing, and take the valued users on to the new generation
of art/emag/demo couriers.  The Source, originally founded by Beastie
of ACiD never got rolling.  Recently Corwin and I (Opiate) decided to
give The Source another shot with the Turbine members that we thought
were worthy of The Source.  The Source will be couriering Art, Demos and
E-mags.  NO WARES!  Our World Headquarters is Amber, which has just
added an additional two nodes, and another gig.  This is where the
couriers will get the packs once The Source has plugged them with our
info.  The Source will be picking up the material directly from the person
who puts the pack together for each group, or from the demo group's Headquarter
boards.  The group of couriers that we have have been selected by Corwin,
the courier head of ACiD, myself, and PsyCo Child of ACiD.
The Source should be rolling, and accepting sites by mid-april.
We hope The Source will bring a new dawn to the art couriers on the scene.
Lupus is rumored to have since died, and The Source will be taking over
the entire art couriering scene.  The Source is accepting members as
couriers and sites.  The Source *IS* charging for sites. The reasoning
is, as Lupus did not charge for their sites, they did not get the job
done either, and we plan to do both.  People have said to me, well, for
what you are charging, I could just go and get the stuff myself.  Our
response is, if you are looking to get the newest art, demos, and mags,
we will get you more material faster, then you could EVER do yourself.
If you are interested in becoming a distribution site or member of
The Source, then contact Opiate@cyberspace.com for details.

ïFederation
ïSpyder Man
ï05/23/94

                          The Federation:

Imagine a network where 30 boards contribute as many quality messages
as you would expect from a network with over 100 boards.  Imagine a network
where you can scan through the messages everyday without finding any "ACiD
Rulezz!@$!" or any other "eleete" posts.  Well, if you don't think it's
possible, find a Federation node near you and discover the network of your
dreams.

From the time of its creation in November 1993, The Federation
has been a tightly unified network, with a minimum of boards contributing
a maximum number of messages.  The message traffic has always been
relatively rapid, but with the new routing system, it is definitely the
fastest network around.  Almost all the boards on the network poll the
World HQ (The Web), with the exception of the Canadian boards who poll
the Canadian Hub (The Twisted Tower).  This system of routing gets rid of
a lot of delay that you see in larger networks that use Regional Hubs.
If your board hasn't been receiving many messages, go bug your sysop,
since the message speed is directly related to how often your sysop polls.
Obviously, the fastest board to get messages from is The Web, but even if
you're posting from an average node, you can expect to receive replies to
your messages 1-2 days later as long as your sysop polls consistantly.

Many of the advantages to The Federation come directly from its compact
size.  There is absolutely no bureaucracy involved in the network, since
everything comes directly to myself (Spyder Man) or egghead.  If we want
a board to join the network, it's done in less than 2 minutes, since we're
usually the ones to send out invitations anyway.  If we really want your
board in the network, I will even setup InterMail and Gecho for your board
and tell you how to set them up by phone.

The network itself has only 16 message bases, all very general type
bases, except for the ACiD and iCE bases.  Therefore, the discussion
isn't very scattered, since there isn't anywhere to scatter it to.  Ever
since the network was started, it's been a general rule not to give bases
to groups other than ACiD or iCE, since none of the other groups seem to
last long enough to warrant them.  The sub types range from General,
Sports, Graphic Demos, etc.  Even though the network is primarily an
artwork/demo oriented network, you'd be surprised to find the amount of
intelligent non-art related discussion on the network.  For instance,
during the months of April/May, there has been a very nice discussion/debate
over the advantages/disadvantages of the American education system vs. the
rest of the world.  On the other hand, the art discussion is the best
that you'll find anywhere.  Since November 1993, when The Federation
started, there has been an artwork discussion vacuum left by the demise
of ToXiCNet, InterPooL, and CCiNet (as you used to know it).  This artwork
discussion vacuum has been filled very well by the emergence of The
Federation as the best art network around.  Anyone that you'd want to
talk to, or request an ANSI from can be found on the network.  If you
want to request an ANSI from the great Tempus Thales, this is the place;
if you want to start an argument with Shihear Kallizad, this is the place;
or if you simply want to read R.Noble's Top Ten lists, this is the place.

   - Spyder Man

For information on The Federation, call The Web at 203-869-0938.
I'm currently looking for a good artwork node in the Boston, MA area
that will poll everyday.  I will automatically accept the first board
that meets this requirement, for personal reasons.  One last side note
about The Federation.  If you apply to Federation and get rejected,
realize that you're seeing the Federation quality control system in action.
