TheKroffts:  Sid & Marty Krofft are here to answer your questions live from the China Club.

Question:  What inspired you guys?

TheKroffts:  Sid says: Through my experiences in the circus and in my life in general.

Question:  What part did Tripping Daisies play in the Sat. morning thing?

TheKroffts:  MCA is coming out with a new album with all-time favorite Saturday morning shows. It will include Sigmund and the Sea Monsters & Friends.

Question:  Are there any remnants of the short-lived Kroffts theme park?

TheKroffts:  Absolutely. They are being sold everywhere. Pinball ride was being sold in Orlando for $100,000.00

Question:  Are the reruns of H.R. Pufnstuf on Nick?

TheKroffts:  No, they aren't. But they will be on Saturday night starting at 10pm EST on Nick at Nite. The shows include "The Bugaloos," H.R. Pufnstuf," "Land of the Lost," and "ElectraWoman & DynaGirl."

Question:  Did you have any involvement with the Banana Splits other than the costume design? Also, do you consider them a part of your work along with your other characters ?

TheKroffts:  We really didn't have any involvement other than the costume design with the Banana Splits. We don't really consider them part of our work.

Question:  Are there any plans to release the Pufnstuf movie on video?

TheKroffts:  We are doing a brand-new movie of Pufnstuf. We're working on it right now.

Question:  I understand that you designed a few characters/mascots. What were they?

TheKroffts:  The Atlanta Falcons mascot. And they lost every game that year.

Question:  Are any of Johnny Whitaker's albums available on CD?

TheKroffts:  Johnny is here at the China Club with us. He says there is no CD that the knows of. But maybe he will come out with one.

Question:  Who do you think would win in a fight, H.R. Pufnstuf or Sigmund the Sea Monster?

TheKroffts:  Neither of them would fight.

Question:  What ever happened to Freddy the Flute? Where is he today?

TheKroffts:  He was stolen 5 days ago out of our warehouse. Help us find him.

Question:  Are you at all amazed at the interest that people still have in shows like Pufnstuf even though the show only lasted one season?

TheKroffts:  H.R. Pufnstuf consisted of 17 episodes that ran for 5 years on NBC and ABC. And yes, we are always amazed.

Question:  What ever happened to Kaptain Kool and the Kongs, and Big Foot and Wild Boy, and Dr. Shrinker?

TheKroffts:  We're bringing every one of those shows back one at a time beginning with "Dr. Shrinker."

Question:  Hello, I have been in love and obsessed with "The Land of the Lost" (70's) for quite a few years now. In Toys/Collectibles, I've only been able too find or hear about the lunch box, the ViewMaster reels and the video...what else is there? Any suggestions on how to go about finding any of them?

TheKroffts:  You should go to the Collectibles shows.

Comment:  You guys are bringing back my childhood.

Question:  I still have my copy of the Pufnstuf album, but it's old and scratchy. Will there be a CD?

TheKroffts:  Save your album! It's worth A LOT of money!

Comment:  Hi Sid and Marty. My kids are here getting to stay up late. They love Pufnstuf

Comment:  Remember Knucks in Tahoe, Marty--Cyd and Tony say "Hi."

Comment:  Thank you for making my childhood an interesting and strange experience. Couldn't have done it w/o you!

Comment:  I'm truly in awe to be here with you

Question:  Is it true there are movie deals in the works with Disney? If so, what are they?

TheKroffts:  It is true. There will be a "Land of the Lost" movie.

Comment:  I still enjoy both the TV and the movie "Pufnstuf" soundtracks.

Question:  What was the name of the Pufnstuf spin-off where Witchiepoo was running a hotel?

TheKroffts:  The name of the show was "Horror Hotel." Our plan is to release all of our shows on video and television.

Comment:  Tell Johnny we love him!

Question:  Is it possible for the "Land of the Lost" special/movie to have the Marshalls and the Porters get back to their world?

TheKroffts:  Whether the Marshalls and the Porters return to their world is a trade secret.

Comment:  Saturday morning TV isn't the same anymore. Cartoons are too violent.

Question:  What ever happened to Phillip Paley, the actor who portrayed Chaka in Land of the Lost?

TheKroffts:  He's grown up to be a great guy. And he wants to have lunch with Marty soon. And Marty says he's been a baaaaaad boy.

Comment:  Johnny, you are my hero!

Question:  D.C. Follies was one of my favorite shows. What ever happened to it, and will it ever come back on television?

TheKroffts:  It's coming back. The name of the series will be "Rubber News." We hope to have Al Franken from be the head writer.

Comment:  I spent the best years of my life with you, this is great

Comment:  I think "Land of the Lost" inspired "Jurassic Park."

Question:  How many shows in total did you produce on Saturday mornings? Wasn't there a show about a purple talking dune buggy?

TheKroffts:  Yes. The show was called "Wonder Bug." It turned into "Schlep Car."

Comment:  Legendary comedian Tahoe Telly says you guys profoundly influenced his work.

Question:  How do you feel about having your show on Nick at Nite?

TheKroffts:  We're excited! We want everybody to have an all-night party with us. We love the Nickelodeon people. They're very professional.

Comment:  I watched all those shows in the 70's! I hope to see all of them come back! Thanks for the entertainment!

Question:  The Bugaloos are hardly ever talked about. Are they in syndication anywhere?

TheKroffts:  The Bugaloos will be seen Saturday night on Nick at Nite.

Question:  To the Kroffts: Your creations (characters, sets, songs..) are beautiful, psychedelic, and horrifying, often all at the same time. What were/are some of your influences? Be honest...did you guys take a lot of drugs in the late '60's?

TheKroffts:  The question should be: Do we take drugs in the '90s?

Question:  Hey! Who performed the "Lidsville" theme? It is definitely the kick-kick-kickiest!

TheKroffts:  Marty says...All I remember is that Sid wrote the lyrics.

Question:  Good evening. I'm a big fan of Sid and Marty Krofft's, but it seems like it's been awhile since they've had a new show. What's up next for the dynamic duo?

TheKroffts:  The new Pufnstuf movie, "The Land of the Lost" movie, and "Rubber News."

Comment:  S&M - You guys epitomized good entertainment in my childhood...thanks!!!

Question:  How did you come up with the idea for H.R. Pufnstuf?

TheKroffts:  Marty says his brother had a nightmare.

Question:  Who were your personal favorite characters you created?

TheKroffts:  Pufnstuf, Sigmund, and Sleestaks.

Question:  Why did you decide on a British lead for "H.R."? Was it an attempt at recapturing the magic of Beatlemania?

TheKroffts:  Jack Wild is here with us, and he was the Oscar nominee for the Artful Dodger in "Oliver."

Question:  Do you consider there to be any talent in the puppeteering world coming up today that will be able to carry on the level of greatness that you guys have set? If so, who?

TheKroffts:  Marty says our children possibly, but it's a lost art.

Question:  Please respond to allegations that the monster's name in "Sigmund and the Sea Monster" is a metaphor for Freudian analysis of Victorian sexuality

TheKroffts:  You're at the wrong Internet address. Go to sex.alt.

Question:  Sid & Marty, how did you meet?

TheKroffts:  We're brothers. And you can't divorce your brother.

Question:  Witchiepoo was actually a man, right? How did you come to pick a man for that part?

TheKroffts:  Billie Hayes played Mammy Yokum in "Li'l Abner." What we're trying to say is: Witchiepoo was played by a SHE.

Question:  What was your first TV production? What was it like, and was it immediately successful?

TheKroffts:  Our first TV production was H.R. Pufnstuf. And the rest is history.

Question:  How do you keep coming up with fresh, new ideas?

TheKroffts:  It's not very easy. We just keep showing up.

Question:  Was Witchiepoo based on anyone in your life?

Comment:  Actually, the use of color and imagery set a standard for kids programming. Excellent work!

TheKroffts:  Witchiepoo was based on Billie Hayes (an incredible talent).

Question:  Who had the idea for having Mama Cass on Pufnstuf?

TheKroffts:  She was great, and she was Sid's next door neighbor and best friend.
