                          texas brownies



2 c. flour

2 c. sugar

1/2 c. butter

1/2 c. shortening

1 c. coffee or water


Frosting:


1/2 c. butter

2 T. cocoa

1/4 c. milk


1/4 c. cocoa

1/2 c. buttermilk

2 eggs

1 t. baking soda

1 t. vanilla




3-1/2 c. powdered sugar

1 t. vanillaHEAT BUTTER, SHORTENING, COFFEE AND COCOA TO BOILING.  POUR

over flour and sugar.  Add remaining ingredients and mix well. 

Pour into well-buttered 17-1/2 x 11 jelly roll pan.  Bake at 400

degrees for 20 minutes.  To make frosting, heat first three

ingredients to boiling.  Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until

smooth.  Pour over brownies as soon as they are removed from

oven.  Makes 48 bars.
