Subject: Re: Oki 900

Cool, at the end of this letter I've tacked on a text file detailing the
manual test mode (aka the "good timing" mode from the Wired article).  I got
it from OKI tech support by fax.

If you get a chance, I'd like to have a copy of the EPROM dump, both straight
binary and the disassembled stuff.  I'd really appreciate it.

Talk to you later,

-Jim

OKI PHONES 600 & 700 SERIES, 20 SERIES, 800 & 900 SERIES & VISORPHONE
            MANUAL TEST COMMAND (FUNCTION INSTRUCTION)

The OKI PHONES transceivers are capable of invoking certain manual test
commands.  This is accomplished through the control unit handset keypad.

Unfortunately, the OKI PHONES 610 & 691 control units do not have the
capabilities to enter this process.  A 630 control unit must be used to
initiate these commands.

Follow this process to enter the manual test command mode:

     1)  Enter steps (A) and (B) within 10 seconds after waking up the unit.

         a)  Depress 7 & 9 simultaneously, then release.

         b)  630/692/700/23      - Depress END RCL MENU SND STO CLR
710/810/891         - Depress FUNC SND END RCL STO CLR
                                     (Display indicates TEST)
750/830/900         - Depress MENU SND END RCL STO CLR
OKI PHONES 21       - Depress STO SND END RCL CLR FUNC
620/693/VISORPHONE  - Depress END RCL FUNC SND STO CLR

Display indicates "Good Timing" if the commands were entered
             successfully.

         c)  Depress 1 & 3 simultaneously, then release.

The unit is now in the manual test mode.

NOTE: The SND key must be entered after each test command.
The first command each and every time that you enter this mode has to
be the SUSPEND command.  This is done by entering from the keypad:
      # + 0 + 1 + SND/(ALPH on the OP 23)
