THE CELESTIAL TOYMAKER

THE CELESTIAL TOYMAKER.   Written by Brian Hayles.   4 episodes.
                           2nd - 23rd April 1966.

The Celestial Toyroom, The Hall of Dolls, The Dancing Floor, The Final Test.

 COMPANIONS:- Steven and Dodo.

The TARDIS materialises in the fantasy world of the Celestial Toymaker.
He makes them prisoners and bargains with them. If they manage to win at
several games he sets them, they can go free; if not, they become his play-
things. Dodo and Steven play Blind Man's Buff against Pierrot clowns,
Musical Chairs against living playing cards, Hunt the Key and finally, a
Death Trap dice game against the Bunteresque Cyril. This obnoxious, fat
schoolboy cheats but is killed through his eagerness to reach "home" first.
The Doctor meanwhile, has to complete The Trilogic Game. The Doctor wins
and although the Toymaker has set a trap for him, he imitates the Toymaker's
voice, destroying his world and freeing the TARDIS.
William Hartnell enjoyed a holiday during the making of this serial and
most of the Trilogic sequence was filmed using another actor's hands.
