Subject: New Advanced Chip Set Setup Options for Baby Voyager
BIOS Setup

The following five additional Setup options now appear on the
Advanced Chip Set Setup screen. They are the first five options
on the screen.

On Board Serial Port 1

This option enables or disables serial port 1 on the Baby Voyager
motherboard. The options are I/O ports 3F8h - 3FFh, I/O ports
3E8h - 3EFh, or Disabled.

If the configuration data stored in CMOS RAM is corrupted when
the system is powered on, the system BIOS automatically
configures onboard serial port 1 according to the presence or
absence of serial ports on any adapter cards in the system
expansion slots (off board serial ports).

Autoconfiguration will only occur when CMOS RAM data is
corrupted. The result for serial port 1 is:

If the Offboard   the Onboard Serial Port 1 is Autoconfigured as
Serial Port is
None           3F8h           Can be disabled or changed to 3E8h
via BIOS Advanced Chip Set Setup.
3F8h           3E8h           Can be disabled via BIOS Advanced
Chip Set Setup. If changed to
3F8h, an I/O port address conflict
                               occurs.
3E8h           3F8h           Can be disabled via BIOS Advanced
Chip Set Setup. If changed to
3E8h, an I/O port address conflict
                               occurs.
 3F8h, 3E8h     Disabled       If changed to 3F8h or 3E8h, an I/O
                               port address conflict occurs.

P5 is serial port 1 on the Baby Voyager motherboard. If disabled
through Setup, do not attach any device to P5 or to any cable
attached to P5. J9 is used to configure the interrupt request
line (IRQ) for onboard serial port 1.

J9

The options for J9 are:

  Jumper   Pins Shorted        Description
 J9        Pins 1-2     IRQ3 selected for onboard
                        serial port 1.
 J9        Pins 2-3     IRQ4 selected for onboard
                        serial port 1 (Default).

If onboard serial port 1 is disabled, you may want to remove the
jumper block from J9 to disable the onboard serial port 1
interrupt.

On Board Serial Port 2

This option enables or disables serial port 2 on the Baby Voyager
motherboard. The options are I/O Ports 2F8h - 2FFh, I/O Ports
2E8h - 2EFh, or Disabled.

If the configuration data stored in CMOS RAM is corrupted when
the system is powered on, the system BIOS automatically
configures onboard serial port 2 according to the presence or
absence of serial ports on any adapter cards in the system
expansion slots (off board serial ports).

Autoconfiguration will only occur when CMOS RAM data is
corrupted. The result for serial port 2 is:

    If the       the Onboard
   Offboard     Serial Port 2
 Serial Port is      is
                Autoconfigured
                      as
None           2F8h           Can be disabled or changed to 2E8h
via BIOS Advanced Chip Set Setup.
2F8h           2E8h           Can be disabled via BIOS Advanced
Chip Set Setup. If changed to
2F8h, an I/O port address conflict
                               occurs.
2E8h           2F8h           Can be disabled via BIOS Advanced
Chip Set Setup. If changed to
2E8h, an I/O port address conflict
                               occurs.
 2F8h, 2E8h     Disabled       If changed to 2F8h or 2E8h, an I/O
                               port address conflict occurs.

P4 is serial port 2 on the Baby Voyager motherboard. If disabled
through Setup, do not attach any device to P4 or to any cable
attached to P4. J6 is used to configure the interrupt request
line (IRQ) for onboard serial port 2.

J6

The options for J6 are:

  Jumper   Pins Shorted        Description
 J6        Pins 1-2     IRQ4 selected for onboard
                        serial port 2.
 J6        Pins 2-3     IRQ3 selected for onboard
                        serial port 2 (Default).

If onboard serial port 2 is disabled, you may want to remove the
jumper block from J6 to disable the onboard serial port 2
interrupt.

On Board Parallel Port

This option enables or disables the onboard parallel port. The
options are I/O ports 378h - 37Fh, I/O ports 278h - 27Fh, or
Disabled. P3 is the onboard parallel port.

If the configuration data stored in CMOS RAM is corrupted when
the system is powered on, the system BIOS automatically
configures the onboard parallel port according to the presence or
absence of parallel ports on any adapter cards in the system
expansion slots (off board parallel ports).

Autoconfiguration will only occur when CMOS RAM data is
corrupted. The result for the onboard parallel port is:

    If the       the Onboard
   Offboard     Parallel Port
 Parallel Port       is
      is        Autoconfigured
                      as
None or 3BCh   378h           Can be disabled or changed to 278h
via BIOS Advanced Chip Set Setup.
378h           278h           Can be disabled via BIOS Advanced
Chip Set Setup. If changed to
378h, an I/O port address conflict
                               occurs.
278h           378h           Can be disabled via BIOS Advanced
Chip Set Setup. If changed to
278h, an I/O port address conflict
                               occurs.
 378h, 278h     Disabled       If changed to 378h or 278h, an I/O
                               port address conflict occurs.

P3 is the parallel port on the Baby Voyager motherboard. If
disabled through Setup, do not attach any device to P3 or to any
cable attached to P3. J18 is used to configure the interrupt
request line (IRQ) for the onboard parallel Port.

J18

The options for J18 are:

  Jumper   Pins Shorted        Description
 J18       Pins 1-2     IRQ5 selected for the
                        onboard parallel port.
 J18       Pins 2-3     IRQ7 selected for the
                        onboard parallel port
                        (Default).

If the onboard parallel port is disabled, you may want to remove
the jumper block from J18 to disable the onboard parallel port
interrupt.

On Board Floppy Controller

Enable this option to use the onboard floppy controller. Make
sure that the floppy cable is connected to P6 on the Baby Voyager
motherboard.

On Board IDE Controller

Enable this option to use the onboard IDE hard disk drive
controller. Make sure that the IDE cable is connected to P7 on
the Baby Voyager motherboard.
