 COMPANIONS:- Steven, Katarina and introducing Sara Kingdom.

   It is many months since the events of MISSION TO THE UNKNOWN.
   The Doctor lands on Kembel and encounters a new patrol led by Bret Vyon
 (played by Nicholas Courtney). The Doctor finds Marc Cory's tape which
 details the Dalek plan and he and Vyon set out to warn Earth.
   Mavic Chen, Guardian of the Solar System, betrays Earth by giving the
 Daleks a taranium element which they use to power their weapon, the Time
 Destructor. The Doctor steals the element but is unable to warn Earth as
 Chen has branded him and his companions traitors. Sara Kingdom kills Vyon,
 her own brother, for his supposed treachery. The Daleks persue the Doctor
 to recover the element and Katarina kills herself to prevent a blackmail
 bid against the Doctor.
   The persuit ends on the planet Tigus where the Doctor meets his old foe,
 the Meddling Monk, who betrays him to the Daleks. Back on Kembel, the
 Doctor is forced to operate the Time Destructor but turns it against the
 Daleks, destroying them. Sara Kingdom, who joined the Doctor after learning
 of Chen's deception, is also killed.
   This was the longest story in Dr Who history until TRIAL OF A TIME LORD
 in 1986. The story featured a special Christmas Day pantomime episode.
   This episode, THE FEAST OF STEVEN, was the first ever Dr Who episode to
 be destroyed.
