(except Camden County) for which applications are being accepted and a
few jobs outside of New Jersey for which we are also recruiting. The
second list shows "(Nationwide)" below Newark Area Office. It contains
federal job opportunities located anywhere in the nation or the world,
not necessarily in the local area. Lists are published on the 1st and
16th of each month and are posted in the Federal Job Information Center
(FJIC) and State Employment Service offices. We also offer information

How to File
Application forms, qualification requirements and filing information
can be obtained from the address on List A shown under the "Where to
Get Forms" column. "List A" appears at the end of this listing.
Applications will be accepted only for positions and locations shown on
the Federal Job Opportunity List. Be sure your application shows the
title, series, grade and control number of the job for which you are
applying. Fill out all the blocks on the application completely,
presenting your experience in detail, especially as it relates to the
position requirements described on the Qualification Information
Statement. A resume may not be substituted for the required
application forms. Make sure that you complete and include with your
application any required supplemental qualifications statement.
Incomplete applications will not be returned and may result in a
lowered score or ineligibility. Failure to submit the forms to the
proper office will delay the processing of your application.
Qualification Requirements
Generally, there is a separate Qualifications Information Statement
(QIS) or announcement for each position. It describes the experience,
education, knowledges, skills, and abilities required. Be sure to read
these requirements carefully and apply only for those jobs for which
you qualify.
Filing Dates
Applications must be received or postmarked no later than the closing
date shown on the Federal Job Opportunities Listing.
Because of immediate needs to fill some vacancies, an early
consideration date may be indicated on the FJOL. Applications received
or postmarked by the early consideration date will be processed first.
Applications received or postmarked after that time will be processed
in the order of filing, or, depending on staffing needs, returned to
you unrated. It is to your advantage to file early.
Special Filing Privileges
If you are a disabled veteran, Purple Heart recipient, a recently
discharged (120 days or less) veteran, the mother of a veteran who died
in action or who is totally disabled, the unmarried widow/widower of a
veteran, the spouse of a totally disabled veteran with a service-
connected disability, or have recently (120 days or less) returned from
overseas Federal civilian employment, filing deadlines may not apply to
you. Write the FJIC for additional information.
Notices of Results
You will be sent a Notice of Results showing whether you are eligible
or ineligible. If you are eligible for a position for which a list of
eligibles (competitor inventory) is maintained, your numerical rating
may also be shown. Names of qualified applicants remain on a
competitor inventory list for the period of time shown on the Notice of
Results. If you wish to extend your period of eligibility, please
follow the instructions on the Notice of Results.

Positions Filled Directly by Agencies
Temporary Positions
Federal agencies have the authority to fill certain temporary positions
through special procedures. These jobs may not appear on the FJOL.
Vacancy notices for these positions are posted separately in FJIC's and
are available at State Employment Service offices.
Positions Filled Under Delegated Examining Authority
Some Federal agencies have been given authority to recruit and examine
directly for jobs in certain occupations. These jobs may not appear on
the FJOL. Separate announcements are issued by the agency, and are
posted in FJIC's and State Employment Service offices.
*****
Citizenship and Age Requirements
United States citizenship is required for positions in the competitive
service.
The minimum age for most jobs is 18 (or 16 if you are a high school
graduate). Certain positions may have maximum age limitations required
by law.
Equal Employment Opportunity
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for appointment
without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age,
political affiliations, or any other non-merit factor.
